Tahitian Noni International Creates Humanitarian Program to Benefit Children in Tahiti

PR-USA
Tahitian Noni International, maker of TAHITIAN NONI® Juice and other noni products, marked the one year anniversary of its Do Something Good humanitarian program by inviting children of Tahiti to visit the United States. The Do Something Good program features four intiatives to help the children of Tahiti -- purchase textbooks for students and books for school libraries, donate computers to school computer labs, award high school scholarships for Tahitian students, and support a local orphanage near TNI's newly-completed noni processing plant in Papara, Tahiti.

The company invited children and caregivers from the Tahitian orphanage to Orlando, Florida, to enjoy the wonders of the theme parks and meet more than 3,000 Independent Product Consultants (IPCs) during a recent Tahitian Noni Regional Leadership Conference. At that time, the company also recapped the success of the humanitarian program.

In the past year, Tahitian Noni International has donated thousands of textbooks and library books, and supplied more than 100 computers to ten computer labs in schools across French Polynesia. In addition, the company has awarded scholarships for higher education to 20 Tahitian youth and supplied food, clothing, and playground equipment to a local orphanage.

Quixtar Files Suit Against MonaVie To Protect Consumers, Halt Unfair Competition

The Earth Times
Quixtar North America has filed a multi-count Complaint against MonaVie (Mona Vie, Inc. and MonaVie LLC), and several MonaVie distributors for unfair competition in federal court in Salt Lake City. The Complaint alleges that MonaVie competes unfairly by making false claims about its products. Utah-based MonaVie sells juice blend products featuring acai berries through a network of distributors. Quixtar, a sister company to Amway Corporation, sells nutritional products through its Independent Business Owners (IBOs) that directly compete with MonaVie. Some of Quixtar's products also contain acai berries.

Quixtar's filing is intended to protect consumers from false health claims as well as ensure its IBOs are not damaged from unfair competition stemming from false claims. Quixtar, a respected member of the Direct Selling Association, also hopes to protect other direct selling companies from MonaVie's deceptive tactics.

The Complaint contains numerous examples of false health claims made by MonaVie and its distributors. For example, the Complaint includes transcripts of MonaVie meetings with speeches by "doctors" who falsely claim that MonaVie can cure cancer, stop aging at a rapid pace, improve vision, and eliminate pain. The "doctors" describe "dosages" of MonaVie to falsely imply that it is a medicine.

Avon CEO emphasizes leadership, social responsibility

The Daily Princetonian
Andrea Jung ’79, CEO of the cosmetics company Avon Products and a former University trustee, spoke about the “six principles of leadership” and social responsibility to a crowd of students in Dodds Auditorium yesterday afternoon.

Jung, who was the fourth woman to become the CEO of a Fortune 500 company and has for several years been named one of the top 50 most powerful women in business by Forbes Magazine, listed the principles of passion, people, perseverance, personal humility, pride and purpose as critical to both successful business leadership and personal development.

Raising the example of individuals like Apple Inc., CEO Steve Jobs to underscore the importance of personal humility, Jung said that though he was a “genius,” Jobs was never shy about admitting his mistakes. This is important, because it allows people to do better, Jung said.

Jung attributed her success in the business world to performing tasks and seeking responsibilities not required of her. She added that as a manager, she sometimes challenges promising employees by promoting them before they feel ready.
