Herbalife Family Foundation Launches Nutrition Program For Children In Vietnam

Herbalife Family Foundation (HFF), a non-profit organization helping children at risk, has given a grant to the Hoa Binh Humanitarian Center, a charity organization operated under the Red Cross in Vietnam, to improve nutrition for children.

Under the grant, HFF will establish a Casa Herbalife program at Hoa Binh Humanitarian Center, financing a kitchen upgrade so kids can be served healthier meals. After the initial grant, Herbalife local independent Distributors in Vietnam will continue to support the program with volunteerism and fundraising.

City of L.A. Prepares for Sunday's 9th Annual Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon

Twenty five hundred competitors led by 30 professional and 65 amateur elite triathletes will take to the waters and roadways around the City of Los Angeles for the 9th Annual Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon presented by Herbalife Sunday morning, September 7, 2008. Start time on Venice Beach is 6:45 a.m. for the pros; 6:55 a.m. for the elite amateurs and 7:00 a.m. for remainder of the field in waves of 150 competitors. The first male pro should cross the finish line downtown at LA LIVE Nokia Plaza at approximately 8:50 a.m. The remainder of the field will cross the finish line over several hours and the event culminates with a 12 noon awards ceremony on the Plaza.

With competitors from 38 states, plus the District of Columbia, and 11 countries, the Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles Triathlon presented by Herbalife is living up to its designation as the "ultimate multi-sport destination." The event, which features a point-to-point course starting with a 0.9 mile swim in the waters off Venice Beach, cycling 24.8 miles from the beach to downtown Los Angeles, and running 6.2 miles in downtown, has also been recognized as the "top Olympic distance triathlon to include on a racing calendar."

Chinese Professor Joins Herbalife's Nutrition Advisory Board

Herbalife Ltd. , a global nutrition and direct selling company, announced that Dr. Linong Ji has joined the company's Nutrition Advisory Board.

The nutrition advisory board is comprised of leading experts around the world in the fields of nutrition and health who educate and train Herbalife independent distributors and, in China, sales employees on the principles of nutrition, physical activity and healthy lifestyle. The board is chaired by David Heber, M.D., Ph.D., director of the Center for Human Nutrition at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Ji is the director of endocrinology department at the People's Hospital of Peking University in China and a co-director of the Peking University Diabetes Center. He is also the president of the Endocrine and Metabolic Physician Society under the Chinese Physician Association, a director of the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and the International Diabetes Federation Western Pacific region in Asia (IDF-WPR), and chief editor of China Diabetes Magazine. Ji's studies are focused on clinical work in endocrine and research in molecular genetics of diabetes mellitus and its treatment.

Herbalife CEO Sells 89,839 Shares

The chairman and chief executive of Herbalife Ltd., which makes nutrition and weight-management products, exercised options for and sold 89,839 shares of stock, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Tuesday.

In a Form 4 filed with the SEC, Michael Johnson reported he exercised options at $3.52 apiece and sold the shares for $43 apiece to $43.02 apiece on Monday and Tuesday.

In a Form 4 filed with the SEC, Gregory Probert reported he exercised options for the shares Monday and Tuesday for $9 to $17 apiece, and then sold all of them for $41.20 to $42.12 apiece."

We'll Fix Any Wrongdoing

"In a CNBC Exclusive, Herbalife CEO Michael Johnson told Cramer that if his company is doing anything wrong, it will get fixed. Herbalife operates transparently, Johnson said, and is fully cooperating with the S.E.C. and investigating any claims against its operations in China. “We are not a company to hide anything from anyone,” he said.

Cramer remained supportive of Johnson and the stock. He told viewers HLF is “not for the squeamish” and should only be bought after doing the homework on the company and the allegations against it.

Finally, Cramer had a chance to ask Johnson if he would consider buying back stock in the company."

SEC Probes Former Herbalife Employee

"The company described the target of the probe as a 'former midlevel employee' and said it does not believe that the trades involve the company.

Herbalife said it received the request for documents related to its distributors on Thursday. According to the company, the SEC said the inquiry should not be construed as an adverse reflection on the company, or as an indication that a violation of law has occurred.

Herbalife said it is cooperating with the SEC in both matters."

Herbalife Chairman Exercises Options

"The chairman and chief executive of Herbalife Ltd., which sells nutritional supplements, exercised options for 150,000 shares of common stock, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

In Form 4s filed with the SEC Monday, Michael Johnson reported he exercised the options on Thursday for $3.52 apiece, then sold all 150,000 shares on the same day for $42.95 to $44.19 apiece.

The stock sale was conducted under a prearranged 10b5-1 trading plan which allows a company insider to set up a program in advance for such transactions and proceed with them even if he or she comes into possession of material non-public information."

Herbalife Hires New Vice President for East Central Europe

"Herbalife Ltd. (NYSE:HLF) announced the hiring of Edyta Kurek as vice president, East Central Europe which includes Poland, Hungary, the Czech and Slovak Republics, and the Baltic States of Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. She will be based in Warsaw.

Kurek joins Herbalife from Oriflame, a direct-selling cosmetics company, where she held the position of managing director of their Polish operations since 2003. During that time, she helped guide the business to become the company’s third largest country operation, with over 90,000 sales consultants.

Fluent in Polish, English, and Russian, Kurek has a diverse background, initially pursuing a career as a nuclear engineer after graduating with a master’s degree from the Moscow University of Technology. In 1995, she left the nuclear industry and joined the fast developing fiber optic and cable communications industry, initially in sales and marketing roles, and later in country executive roles with Anixter and UPC."
